Some products offer a broad set of capabilities that cut across categories. We’ve classified these as bundled solutions to make them easier to identify.


What is it?

At their core, Electronic Health Records (or EHRs) are digital versions of a patient’s medical chart, supporting care delivery, creating a paper trail of the patient’s treatment, and enabling reimbursement. However, they are often much more, with additional features and modules that cut across multiple categories.

For our taxonomy, we’ve taken a straightforward approach–classifying solutions based on whether they cover the primary administrative and clinical functions traditionally associated with EHRs.

What is it?

Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) refers to the collection of processes associated with ensuring providers are reimbursed accurately and in a timely manner. While there are a number of point solutions that support aspects of revenue cycle management, we’ve classified solutions in the RCM bundle only if they cover the major functions involved in the end-to-end process.

What is it?

Patient engagement solutions comprise a bundle of several software products that support, encourage, and/or enable the active involvement of patients in the management and administration of their care in collaboration with a provider. Different patient engagement solutions may be used for different purposes at a variety of stages along the patient journey, thus each solution may have a slightly varying feature set. However, we classify solutions in the patient engagement bundle as those that have at least 3 key patient engagement features.
